Help Me!  I am Choking!

A helpful hint to keep your dust collector on the lead lap.

Your car seems to be a little sluggish.  You are on the Kennedy Expressway and you are not so sure about getting around that rock wielding gravel truck unscathed.  You stop by the local oil change center and the eighteen year old technician looks at you funny as he is holding the plugged air filter for your car.  Embarrassed, you tell him to change it, of course!

Now think about your shop's dust collection system.  Yes, day in and day out you listen to it moan in the background.  Of course you change the waste containers, after all no one else seems to notice that they are full, kind of like the trash containers in your home.

Consider the filters on your dust collector.  The fabric we see is simply a substrate in which the dust cake forms.  It is he dust cake that actually provides the 99.9% efficiencies that you read about in the trade magazines.  The new filters out of the box are maybe 60% efficient at best.  The problem is that over time, fine particles become embedded in the substrate and the decrease the dust collector's ability to press air through the filter.  The result?  Increased static pressure on the outlet of the fan and decreased performance in the shop.

There is a wide range of options for filter media, and there are a multitude of sources that provide replacement filters.  If you need help in determining what filter is best suited for your application, please let us know.

Shop Round Table Forum

Why re-invent the wheel, learn from others who have learned the hard way!

7 Degrees, Inc.
I have been involved in a number of technology. machinery and software seminars.  Of all of the positive things to come from such events, none is more rewarding than seeing shop representatives, owners, managers and craftsman sitting at a table and sharing their experiences with products, materials and equipment.  I have witnessed representatives from the major manufacturers collaborate with the one man shop owner. Many of these meetings have resulted in a continued relationships after the seminar.

We are committed to education and hope that you will consider attending one of our upcoming round table forum to meet with other shop owners and managers to "TALK SHOP".   These networking events allow you to introduce your shop and it's capabilities to other shops.  In today's competitive marketplace, those who build solid alliances will benefit from their expanded resources and production potential.

We are interested in hosting such an event.  The round table discussion will hosted by a moderator, someone who is an expert in a given topic such as finishing, or software.  They will be instructed to present the technology only, and not specific products.  The forum is not a sales lecture by a salesman as much as a learning opportunity for those to attend.

At the end of the day, you dictate the needs the industry representatives need to address and find solutions to meet those needs.  7 Degrees, Inc. is eager to understand your requirements so we can tailor our business to those needs.
